Isn't the characterization "False Equivalence" relative, depending on which side of the political fence you sit?
To those on the political left, comparing Israel's government to the Nazis is fair. To those on the political right, the same comparison is seen as a false equivalence.
But the people on the Right are lying. And we know they're lying because if you explain how Israel is doing a genocide, they just deflect to Hamas. They know that the Zionists are similar to the Nazis, but admitting so is bad optics.
@flipper1966 Dude, I've seen this strategy before. Someone says Israel is committing a genocide, then someone else deflects by arguing over the historical definition of the word "genocide," as if that matters. That's what it seems like here. But without the context, we don't know.
But again, does it matter? Israel is mass murdering Palestinians, that's what matters. I don't care to argue semantics here.
Waters has been a stone-cold antisemite for years. Calling Israel “Nazi” is nothing new with that crowd. They believe Jews don’t deserve self-determination and any effort to achieve it is by definition “Nazism.”
He hates Jews and “Nazi” is just the worst insult he can come up with. If Waters was a conservative, he’d call them “Marxists.”
I suppose that could be argued, but sometimes comparisons really are a case of apples and oranges—both are [b]fruit[/b], but on closer inspection that’s all they have in common.
