I would say they had every idea what its like to poke an extreme right-wing ethnostate. Israel has started to lose all sympathy.

Hamas is the governing authority. Hamas has a responsibility for the welfare of Gazans. I read the case of a boy who was abused by his father. The mother failed to protect the child from the father's abuse. A court found both parents unfit and put the kid in foster care. The father was unfit because he was an abuser. The mother was unfit because she permitted the abuse to continue. Israel is like the abusive father. Hamas is like the unfit mother.

Keep in mind, the use of human shields is [i]per se[/i] a war crime. But causing civilian casualties in war is not [i]per se [/i]a war crime.
