There's currently a debate about whether Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, but . . .

Did you know a red flag alert has been issued about the United States committing genocide?

If Israel is committing genocide they are very bad at it.

@Bumbles Give them time.

How long can a city of two million go without food, power or most of it's homes d destroyed?

@Burnley123 The issue on the table is genocide, and there isn’t one. The use of the term is sloganeering and hyperbole. It’s a war zone. Innocent people will die. That’s what war is, and Israel did not start it. Hamas is the jihadist death cult with dreams of genocide, not Israel.

@Bumbles Its really not.

What do you expect to happen when a city goes without food power or homes? What isn;t done by bombs will happen by poverty and disease. Srebrenica is commonly referred to as a genocide and its inconceivable that this won't reach the same number of deaths. Probably many more.

Nobody has said that genocide HAS happened. A lot of well-informed people are predicting it is likely to happen based on what is going on.

This:

has been discussed at the highest level of the Israeli govt and is on public record. Now, the Israeli government deny that is government policy but think about it. If you desire a Jewish-only state and you see all Gazans as Hamas complicit, then a logical 'solution' is to depopulate the Gaza Strip. 2.2 million people live in the Gaza Strip. North of a hundred thousand would have to die before other countries are blackmailed into opening borders? Why depopulate the part of Gaza that is not bordering Egypt? It has a logic, but a brutal one.

@Burnley123 Many people on SW have alleged genocide, others on line, others who have attended marches.

Putting that aside for the time being, could genocide happen? Well, yes. Could Hamas commit genocide? Of course. WMDs are not inconceivable, and their founding charter calls for the death of every Jew. That’s not hyperbole.

Israel’s cabinet contains right wing lunatics, and if they get their way, then yes, it is possible.

I don’t agree telling Palestinians to get the hell out of Gaza City is an act of genocide. It’s good advice.

@Bumbles
WMD
So said Tony and Dubya. That analogy is more prescient than you know.

On the moderate faction, though they are being pulled rightwards,

Over a closed and armoured border, which they can't get to and into an empty desert if they could (which they can't). Last I heard, the leader of the Scottish National Party had family who couldn't get out.

@Burnley123 I appreciate the dig about WMDs, but I don’t think the situations are the same. Sadaam Hussein was many things, but not a jihadist.

I meant to say Gaza city, and changed that, but it is curious why Egypt won’t help more. Israel won’t risk war with Egypt, either, so they can’t force the issue and create a mass migration like Muslims fleeing to Pakistan.

I thought other nationals were getting out, actually.

They were very good at committing genocides in the Bible, doing about 40 of them.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@Diotrephes Careful with those Bible references, you may end up with a title fee simple of the land for Israel.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Bumbles I would pave over every inch of it with a layer of concrete 15 feet deep.

@Diotrephes Good for parking.

@Bumbles The next step is to blame Egypt, if, as a sovereign state it doesn't take two mil refugees because Israel forces it. As if Americans would be ok with that happening to them.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 I’m not blaming Egypt, and am not proposing they take 2 million refugees. I don’t hers that argument.

I also don’t think Egypt minds losing Gaza in retrospect, either, and Jordan makes no claim on the West Bank.

America has taken millions of immigrants, we needed them, so I understand the point you’re making.

And of course Israel also took in quite a few Jews but that was welcome sand part of the plan.
