I hear the government in Dublin are setting up yet another enquiry into abuse of children by a religious order.

I can't help wondering how many prosecutions have resulted in previous such enquiries, how much compensation has been forthcoming. The legal profession has doubtlessly benefited. Anyone else?

The late Polish pope John Paul II knew about child abuse in Poland's Catholic church years before becoming pontiff and helped cover it up. Karol Wojtyla, as he then was, knew of cases of pedophile priests within the church while still a cardinal in Krakow. He transferred the priests to other dioceses -- one as far away as Austria -- to ensure no scandal ensued.

@helenS They know all about clergy transfers over here too.

@alan20 The old "out of sight – out of mind" strategy doesn't work anymore, for them.
