They were close to being able to launch nuclear weapons.

@samueltyler2 Trump claimed that was the case, but it was pretty clear from expert analysis that it probably wasn't true. More generally, there is no doubt that Iran has been pursuing a nuclear capability for decades, and getting close to success.

@MartinII they’ve been saying that for 30 years, the same as weapons of mass destruction, THEY NEVER FOUND ANY, because there wasn’t any, they’ve always got to have a narrative, to give them the reason to go to war,
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MartinII the closeness is arguable.

Damage to material things aren't as important as hurting people. Iran supported terror across the region especially through proxies who have been responsible for killing many thousands of people. They have been on a path towards a nuclear weapon which could have killed hundreds of thousands. Some say they would never use one if they had one, but their history does not prove that to be true.
Their last gasp is to limit access through the Straight of Hormuz. That has energy markets spooked and is raising oil prices which are now trading in the mid $90's. As a reference, oil peaked at $123/barrel 4 years ago. It was at $65 three weeks ago.

Depends on your definition of dangerous. If you were captain of a $100 million crude carrier, how many burning ships would it take before you decided not to risk the Strait of Hormuz??

Iran has a very weak conventional military. They specialize in insurgencies & blocking the strait of Hormuz. Even with far superior technology, there's very little the US can do to stop them from stockpiling mines and drones in random bases hidden in the mountains and firing them at soft targets. Likewise it's pretty tough to stop the Iranians from getting on speedboats and dropping mines in the water at random.

That all depends where you get your news, you get 10 years in prison in Israel l, if you post any pics of the damage to Israel, also America media is heavily censoring

@1490wayb are you denying that the increase in prices at the pump are a direct result of the war?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
But they are successfully putting the world back on its heels!

Real world confrontations apparantly turn out to be very different.

The hole world knows Korea is developing nuclear weapons why is Trump not stopping them. I would say Korea is a bigger threat than Iran. And then where dose it stop. The end of the world
TradEmily · 26-30, F
@MisterBander which is why it won't get invaded... you can only invade countries BEFORE they have nuclear weapons.
@TradEmily Exactly, and that is why Iran is going to get them too, they need them, to keep the flies away.

The hole world knows Korea is developing nuclear weapons
North Korea conducted its first successful nuclear test on Oct 9, 2006, a bit over 19 years ago. They had started building a plutonium breeding reactor around 1980; it went critical and began breeding around 1986.

They've been extremely over powered
nevergiveup · 61-69, M
Where are there nuclear weapons.
TradEmily · 26-30, F
@nevergiveup I dont think anyone said they had them. Just they are gonna make them
@TradEmily They never had any nuclear weapons, just like Iraq never had any chemical weapons. That doesn't stop the Americans from running in to kill everyone anyway. They love small countries like this so they can practice in case a real challenge appears one day. Gotta keep your men sharp.
Some will die, who cares. Blame it on a lucky shot.

@MisterBander Keir starmer has done the right thing keeping the UK out of this. We went into the last war after we was told they had all those weapons but nothing was ever found. We will not make the same mistake following the USA

That’s because your brainwashed by the media every country doesn’t talk about their losses and just talks about their gains
