Years ago I spent a few rotations at Air Force bases in France, where the airdrome had been upgraded and previously used by the German Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain. The Luftwaffe protected their planes by dispersing their airplanes via roadways leading to tree groves and even connecting airdromes to one another with hiding places between airdromes. Also fortified underground hiding places.

yes, but also why the importance of mobile launchers that can be moved immediately after launching. Then moved and set up within minutes at a different location.

They have stockpiles of mobile launchers that are well hidden. When they launch them they haul them away quickly and hide them. Depending on how long it takes from detection to giving the order to launch an attack to finding them they can already be out of the area. Sometimes they find them and destroy them. Satellite views are also used but the enemy also knows all this and knows how to counter it.

@gregloa I watched a Youtube about the B1B bombers being retro-fitted with extra bombs and returned to service. Apparently they can fly above the country unseen, VERY high...and they can carry enough bombs to knock out the Chinese fleet...so I'm wondering WHY they are not flying a dozen of them over Iran? To knock out the mobile launchers AS they are launching?
