is a well-travelled statement and it does feel like that it has returned into being. Nothing is of worth any more, not even the gas price nor the life of civilians nor that of one's own military involved in the war. No more wars, no more regime change indeed. I feel strongly too now, but then about the utter stupidity of recent events.
Here's a superpower spending all its military and diplomatic power in a war without an end in sight because they don't even know who's in charge at the other side any more. A war in which the said superpower will have to muddle along now with no real allies except the so-called Spartan in the region. Does anyone remember who actually won the war against the Ancient Persians? Not the city-state of Sparta, no.
But never mind this dumb reasoning yet again. When this war with Iran will continue into the unknown, because we all know that's not going to be over until the people over there will settle scores, just think back to what happened to the author Salman Rushdie. Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa (religious decree) on February 14, 1989, calling for the death of the author. 33 years later Rushdie was stabbed by a 27-year old.
Speaking about surviving the attack, the author stated: "I'm lucky. What I really want to say is that my main overwhelming feeling is gratitude". He lost sight in one eye and the use of one hand. I wish the United States all the luck in the world because I sense that they'll need it. Take care America!

@therighttothink50 Thank you for the (very long) clip. Helped me a lot with not watching Lawrence O'Donell today. It's the same but in the other way. They can say it nicely and with great sincerely but one needs to retain criticism. Told Lawrence once that he was dead wrong about Biden's leaving Afghanistan and that his novels had already been removed from libraries. I loved the Green Book. I've come to the conclusion that it's not really a generation thing but an experience value lacking. I knew my grandparents who lived through two world wars, one major depression and one reconstruction. Having known them, well, it helps. I like Reagan a lot. His book with letters is amazing. Hate that recent movie about him though. It's not only that there's no gravitace but there's also no experience element present. I hope that I still make sense. Yes, I'm a left-leaning conservative and I hate Trump for what he's done to the Republican Party
