I Hate How The World Thinks Wrong About Iranians

Since the promise to attack Iranian cultural sites just thought it'd be relevant to show some pictures of what these sites actually are, and what would be lost if they were destroyed for... I still don't know what the justification for attacking them is?

@Smartygirl24 it worries me as well, as well as your people's safety. I know Iranians, you are warm and friendly people, I do not want you to face harm.
@Smartygirl24 Every Iranian I have talked to are wonderful and the kindest people.

@Smartygirl24 Not all of us are terrorists. 💐

Thanks for sharing and they are truly beautiful... And important for all our heritages... Seems that the US may be no better than Isis when it comes to destroying heritage sites ...
I’ve always been told that the Iranian people by and large like and support the US. It’s just the regime that hates us. IDK. I’m stupid so, whatever. 🤷‍♀️

@DarkHeaven It's pretty complicated.

In 1953, the CIA, along with British Intelligence, organized a coup, that overthrew the democratically elected government of Iran, and re-seated the Shah of Iran, in addition to giving him complete control. He was a puppet for us and the British. He also established a secret police, that makes the current crop of Revolutionary Guards look like boy scouts.

The Shah and his entourage enriched themselves, and kept the people poor. Dissent was dealt with swiftly, and permanently. This gave rise to the Mullahs, who promised the people freedom from the Shah.

Fast forward to 1979, when the Shah fled Iran, and Khomeini landed. The secularists stood by, thinking that Khomeini is not a serious figure, they will him do all the heavy lifting, and then they will swoop in, and establish a secular democracy.

First order of business for Khomeini? He rounded up all the secular leaders/intellectuals, and executed them. He also allowed "students" to take over the US Embassy and hold 52 of our citizens hostage, as payback for the US being the primary power behind the Shah's abuse of power, theft, arrests, torture and executions.

Our hostages got released, eventually, when Reagan became President, and traded arms for hostages.

The US neocns were still pissed though. They wanted to get even, so the people in charge, when Reagan was President, egged Saddam on, and supported him with logistical information, and convinced to invade Iran.

Iran is now pissed at us, again.

So, when Trump picks 52 targets, one for each US hostage held in 1979, he's reviving hatred. He's not simply playing to his crowd, he truly represents the racist, xenophobic base that elected him. He also shows that not only he does not care about the Iranian people, but he truly hates them.

The tit for tat needs to stop. Enough blood was spilled, but the neocons, and the white trash, have no sense of history, and the irony is that when they call Iran's actions archaic (calling for revenge), that's exactly what they're engaged in.

Do Iranians hate the US? I don't believe they do, but in times of crisis, people rally around a common national cause. Prior to our misadventure, the people of Iran were moving toward a secular democracy, and the unseating of the Mullahs. The Mullahs could not have dreamed of a better scenario. The people are now unified in rejecting what we just did, even though they were not fans of Soleimani.
@Northwest That’s a lot. I still don’t know much about politics but I know people and people don’t like to be hated and judged. Especially when they didn’t actually do the bad thing. Makes them feel hurt and they get angry at the accuser. Pretty simple.

@DarkHeaven True.

I remember watching the news when Saddam Hussain was executed and the carnage it was left in then :(
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@SW-User didn't turn out too well, did it
SW-User
@ozgirl512 no :(
Beautiful.

So sad.
If you don't respect other cultural sites how can people believe you wouldn't sell out your own cultural history.

And this

They are not going to do that - God you are such a paranoid boob.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@MarmeeMarch "They are not going to do that" "It's just what will happen if we decide to erase..."

You're doing terrific.
@CountScrofula That second part was for a diff. anti I-Ran reply. But good catch and nice try.
akindheart · 61-69, F
Cultural sites? i heard oil refineries and military bases.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@akindheart this is verbal gymnastics. Iranian cultural sites and sites of Iranian culture is the same thing.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@akindheart This has been cited in newspapers around the world as a war crime, and the Pentagon has publicly said they will not commit war crimes. Trump could clarify or retract what he said and has refused to.

The only people I know who are defending or trying to clarify this remark are Trump supporters who don't want to admit this is as bad as it looks.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@CountScrofula it depends on what you read. it was portrayed differently in 2 different papers. so now that it is a non issue, this Trump supporter knows when to let something go. do you?
Not much military value in those photos ... then again, you might want to check back with what the Secretary of State clarified... I really really really really really doubt any of those locations have any risk whatsoever ...
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@questionWeaver Considering the considerable backlash, it'd make sense for Trump to clarify his tweet. He has not - but the Pentagon has quickly moved to say the US will not commit war crimes.

And although many supporters are trying to say he would not do that... I've got some in this thread saying he very well may.

You can see how I come to these conclusions.
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
I hope those sites stick around for many generations.

The world will lose out if they are gone. Those sites are much bigger than Iran or the US.

I hope international pressure can bring both sides back from the edge.
Nanori · F
the only thing he'll achieve by saying that is hatred of Iranians.
@Nanori or decoy
Nanori · F
@questionWeaver please tell me he isn't that stupid
@Nanori He has done it before at the request of the defense department ... why not again?
Tres13 · 51-55, M
should stop threatening America & all will remain untouched
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I fear for Yazd. It has great meaning for me as a Zoroastrian.
Nanori · F
That’s Donald Trump’s particular ignorance. Considering the Western outcry when ISIS was destroying antiquities it felt contradicted Islamic “purity”—we’d be hypocrites to participate in such destruction.
Not saying that the US haven’t been hypocrites before, but that would be especially senseless. 😞
