The fires in Greece have an apocalyptic look

People being evacuated as houses and hotels are incinerated. This is scary .

Lack of acceptance of the consequences of global warming.

@SW-User asking who started the fire. Was it spontaneous combustion
SW-User
@Patriot96 Probably.

Not arson.

A broken bottle acting as a lens.
A metal object reflecting sunlight.
Who knows?

@SW-User 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@SW-User weather is no different than it has been before. Weather forecasters have more colors on their maps to scare you
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Patriot96 No it wasn't. I live in the Mediterranean area and even just 15 years ago the heat waves peaked at 35°C max, not 50°C.

Only clown ass conservatives in the pocket of the oil industry refuse to acknowledge climate change. The same fools who were immolating themselves in droves to prove that COVID was no big deal and the vaccine unnecessary.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@Elessar ok, eliminate oil. What the fuck will you do?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Patriot96 Begin replacing it with nuclear and renewables? What humanity has done since the dawn of times for any and every technology that got phased out?
SW-User
@Patriot96 From oil we obtain plastics. Are we contemplating being without them too?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User There's non-oil alternative materials too. Look at Henry Ford's hemp car.

It doesn't have to be an either 100% or 0% anyway, a large amount of plastic can be replaced by alternative products (especially single-use, like containers, wraps, etc.) just like a large amount of oil energy generation could be replaced with different technologies. At the same time, there's applications where oil/fossil can't be replaced immediately, but even if oil was still used only for those we'd be in a much better position right now.

@Elessar Kevlar bitumen tar
Car tyres all gone!
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User As I said, where there isn't a replacement it'll continue to exist. But even just replacing all the applications where it could be replaced (notably: production of electricity, single use plastics, as fuel) would've put us on a much better track than the status quo already
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@Elessar the alternatives are worse for the environment except nuclear but the environazis are against it
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Patriot96 No, they aren't. Feel free to link here any evidence in support of such a wild claim.

@Elessar
conservatives in the pocket of the oil industry
They're literally working for the oil industry without getting paid. The industry loves them while laughing at them. They're the kind of propaganda machine big business always dreamed about.
sundazzled · 22-25, F
@Patriot96 It's not about how it started, it's about extreme conditions that allow it to rage out of control.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@sundazzled out of control. How do you know this.
Has it ever happened before?
Did anyone spontaneously burst into flame
sundazzled · 22-25, F
@Patriot96 you're just playing stupid. You understand that extreme heat and drought fuel fires and make them difficult to contain.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@sundazzled no your just not accepting the truth.
This is called WEATHER, it happens
