A sunny day in a provincial English town
Godalming in Surrey....I dropped off a car to have some tyres changed and an AC re-gas and while this was going on, set off on a long walk around the town. It was a lovely day and though I walked for miles, the time went quickly...
The canal with a lovely summer sky and assorted ducks and pigeons
The 'Pepperpot' - the old Town Hall - with the obligatory SUV. Do people see me taking pictures and park one of these tanks so that it's in the shot?
Jack Phillips memorial park and cloisters. Phillips was a 'Marconi-Man' on board the RMS Titanic.
Another historic 'connection' - the first electric street lights in the world were installed in the town, and this recently-built street is named in honour of the event (in 1881).
A garage, re-purposed into a restaurant...
There are some amusing shop names in the town. The last one of course is a 'fish and chippy'. It's actually quite good.
In the run-up to the General Election (July 4th) I have only seen posters for one political party, and it is not that of the current incumbent...
...something that the national press has picked up on. (The politician in question is one Jeremy Hunt).
Twilight time, ten minutes after sunset, with a hint of purple in the sky...
and looking in the opposite direction, the end of the day...
