A splash of vivid green in the countryside....

In spring they plant maize (corn) in the field near where I live, and as the young plants grow, they turn the field a bright, vivid green...

In Michigan, the old saying is 'knee high by the 4th of July ' as far as what to expect to get a profitable crop for the year. And you can actually hear it growing on a cool, still evening.
