Witley, Surrey - a village strung out along the A283 Petworh Road
Out on a cycle ride today - my destination was Witley, a village, very old in places, strung out along the A283 Petworth Road. Unlike some places it doesn't really have a 'there' to it, unless you count the area around the Church which also has a school and a very old pub, there's no 'middle'. There were lots of cars. I have endeavoured to exclude them as much as I can, with one notable exception - a red MG - which was worthy of a photograph in its own right!
The White Hart pub
The Star pub
Lodge and Church Fields, near the church
Steps Cottages and Church opposite the White Hart
18th century cottages at 'Wheelerstreet'
Coming into the village from the southern side
Phone box turned into a library - like the one in my earlier post of not-too-distant Shackleford!
A little red MG in the pub car park 🙂
A lake...has always been there, I believe on private property
All Saints Church - over 700 years old
