English Rose

I love living int the beautiful English countryside but there are plenty of other things I love about England.
English food is, for the most part, unjustly maligned. Bangers and mash, toad in the hole, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and fish and chips.
English Pop music, especially from the 60's which I love when Swinging London was at it's pinnacle. The Beatles, Cream, The Trogs, The Kinks. The English charts had democratic spirit where rockers, middle of the road crooners and novelty coexisted. I still listen to all this stuff.
Football. The greatest sport there is. I come from a family of Chelsea fans but even so love hearing Liverpool supporters sing a rousing "You'll Never Walk Alone."
London my place of birth. My favourite spot is the Golden Gallery at the top of the Dome of St. Paul's Cathedral. To get there you have to climb 528 steps, with stops at the Whispering Gallery and the Stone Gallery on the way but the effort is worth it. You're rewarded with a 360-degree view of London, including skyscrapers to the east like the one at 30 St. Mary Axe affectionately called "The Gherkin".
English Weather. There is something special about the way a damp late London afternoon can wrap its arms around you and want to make a cup of tea and think things over.
English Theatre and Literature. The reconstructed Globe in Southwark to the ornate palaces of drama along Shaftsbury Aveneue or in Leicester Square is the best in the world. My parents introduced me to London play-going when I was 12 and I have been hooked ever since.
Finally, English Television, it allows me to enjoy England from home although that is not an excuse to stay home. Midsomer Murders, Peaky Blinders (once I got over the title) Poldark, Blackadder, Broadchurch, Father Ted (yes, I know he's Irish but deserves a fecking mention) so many.
Very good list, but you missed out Queen and Elton John as massive music influeneces.
