@bijouxbroussard the full history of colonialism is still to be written I feel... You only have to look at the middle east to see the results of drawing lines on maps
@Convivial Even in the United States, there’s the question of reparations for the descendants of the original African slaves who worked for nothing. Many think it’s ridiculous but there is a precedent.

In the close of the Civil War, Union General Sherman proposed
Special Field Orders No. 15,
which would have provided the equivalent of "40 acres & a mule" to each recently freed slave family. This was, of course, not honored, and in fact after slavery was abolished the money was given to some southern slaveowners to compensate them for the loss of their slaves. 🤨
