Considering that China exports far more products to the United States than importing, I seriously doubt it will impact them. So their soy sauce and tofu will go up 34%, bit whoop.

@NativePortlander1970 While Walmart doesn't publicly disclose the exact percentage of goods sourced from China, estimates suggest that around 60% of Walmart's imports into the U.S. originate from China.

For my American friends who wish to order from a Chinese site I will be pleased to provide a transhipping address for you to avoid this Tariff. (for a small fee paid in a non $US currency) China isnt mad at us..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I assume you've done the numbers around freight costs to and from Australia, import/ duties and taxes for landing and exporting the goods, and the very real potential for Australia to become enbroiled in a rapidly spreading tariff war (free-trade agreements notwithstanding)

@newjaninev2 I was being sarcastic: However. just about everything I buy from China does come with free delivery and deliever door to door can be as little as a week. While I more or less gave up buying from America. delivery takes forever and costs a bomb...😷
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@whowasthatmaskedman very true

Eventually the americans will end up doing business only with themselves
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
So american companies exporting their products to China will sell less of their products in China - and how is this a good thing?

Perhaps you were being sarcastic - if so, it's usual practice to end with /s
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@whowasthatmaskedman It seems the trump circus decided tariff rates by using a simplistic method along the lines of exports divided by imports as a percentage and dividing that by two.

I'll if I can find the article...
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 I heard an explanation of it. Apart from being a terrible idea. The execution was deeply flawed..😷

@NewWorldToronto I think Tяump's underlying plan with tariffs was to inflict enough economic pain on Canada that Canada would agree to become a US state. In other words, batshit crazy.

All he's done is to stiffen Canadian resolve. US consumers will revolt long before Canadians will surrender.
