Russia made a vaccine against coronavirus ...
hope that there will be fewer deaths

@Darina they've not done any phase 3 studies on it. It's probably 4 to 6 weeks behind 4 or 5 others being properly developed.
The Russian one would never get a marketing approval in USA, EU or UK with the current level of tests/data.
Darina · F
@SW-User Recently, Putin announced on TV that vaccination against coronavirus is starting ... waiting for doctors and teachers ...
in September for everyone ...
baby vaccine will come later ...
many countries order the vaccine from Russia
Darina · F
@SW-User Applications for a billion doses from 20 countries. And this is only a day after the announcement of the registration by Russia of the world's first vaccine against coronavirus "Sputnik V". The interest in the drug in the world is huge.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Darina If other countries similarly to Russia didn't wait for the completion of clinical trials, the U.K., America, Israel, China and Italy at least should've announced theirs in March-May...

Russians are far behind us, except in propaganda.
SW-User
@Darina Well. More fool them.

Trust me in the UK the MHRA would never permit it on current studies. It simply hasn't been tested enough for safety or efficiency.

I worked in drug development / research and related areas for 30 years. The companies / universities I worked for would never market a product with that limit of testing and more importantly the regulatory bodies would never permit it.

I'm currently signed up in the UK Government trial for vaccines. I'll respect one that gets the green light out of that or similar.
Darina · F
@Elessar but China is already asking the Russians for a vaccine ...
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Darina That's what the Russians say. And anyway, you can always stock up and wait for clinical trials to be complete (which is exactly what we're doing with ChAdOx-1 and MRNA-1273 here in Europe and the U.S.), or buy them to do your own clinical trials - the fact they're buying stocks (assuming it's true) doesn't mean they're necessarily going to inoculate them tomorrow.
SW-User
@Darina no, they don't. They just skipped one of the testing phases and plays Russian roulette. The problem is that it's way too dangerous to use any kind of drugs on a huge population without testing it the right way. Sorry Darina, but your insane ex-kgb criminal leader is just playing with you, with his own people. I'm sorry for you. Really.
Darina · F
@SW-User 😄

you and I know nothing about the vaccine ... we are not doctors ...
I think ... you threw out negativity on the Russian vaccine too early ...
only after 2 months we will be able to say something ...
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User
plays Russian roulette
Literally, lol
SW-User
@Darina Darina we know one thing and that's enough: that vaccine has not been tested thoroughly, and this is why it is way too dangerous to use. It's not my opinion, it's the opinion of every fucking researcher all around the world. And I think it's not some kind of professional jealousy, just... we exactly know how things work in Russia, and this is why we are concerned.

I hope nobody will die just because of that vaccine, and I hope you'll be clever enough not to jump on this wagon.
SW-User
@Elessar the problem is that it is not "literally", they play Russian roulette just because they want to show the rest of the world, that Russia has a potential... Yeah, sure. Potential...
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User I don't think ultimately they're gonna do anything different that any of us. It's just a PR stunt, a declaration that won't be followed by anything else. It'll be available for the general people only when the ongoing phase-3 will have demonstrated tolerance and effectiveness on a statistically significant number of people.
SW-User
@Elessar I hope you'll right, but you know I live in a country (Hungary) from the former Eastern/Soviet block and we exactly know how Russia use propaganda, and how they communicate their "success". The value of the human life is way lower than what we call "normal" here in the western world, and I'm afraid that they sacrifice the science on the altar of propaganda.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User I don't think even them would go as far as risking their entire population - if it had side-effects manifesting on even just the 5% of the population it would kill almost twice as much as the virus, and if it was just ineffective, it'd kill many who'd wrongly think to be immune.

Both scenarios would cause enough dissent to make the ongoing protests in the west look like a community walk. Last thing Putin (or any other leader) wants in this particular moment in history is a large scale protest.
Darina · F
@SW-User good ... but why more than 20 countries
got in line for our vaccine
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Darina Stocking up while awaiting for clinical trials completion, and/or performing clinical trials themselves.
Darina · F
@Elessar @SW-User time will tell ... no need to rush to conclusions ... which we do not know
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Darina I'm not saying it's necessarily going to be a failure, it's conceptually similar to Oxford's and could potentially work just as well (or both could fail), just saying that it's objectively a dishonest and dangerous move declaring it "ready" when phase 3 trials have just began, purely for PR.
SW-User
@Darina first of all: I'm not really sure that this is a true that 20 countries already ordered from your vaccine. But if it's true, then they don't have anything to lose. Just because Russia rushed to the market with a semi-tested vaccine, it doesn't mean, that it's is worthless, and doesn't work, it just means that it's not tested as the standards require it. They have to do their own tests (which is needed for any drug no matter who produces it), and moreover they can wait for the Russian tests too...
SW-User
@Darina Yeah, time will tell, just don't kill yourself, just because your leader is an insane criminal, who try to show some kind of power to the rest of the world. One Chernobyl was enough...
Darina · F
@SW-User we have different views on everything ...
I do not want to argue with you ... it is useless ...
many countries still say that we have bears walking down the street ...
you do not know Russia ... someone who lived in Russia can talk about Russia ...
SW-User
@Darina Darina, I'm sorry to say that but you can't see the forest from the trees... Because you grew up and live there you think that it's normal, but it's not, it's far from normal what your country does.

I love your country, I love the people of your country, we (your and my country) have a history in common, when the Red Army was in my country (for 40 years...), but I hate your politics, and the way your politicians behave. And unfortunately this vaccine is not about science, it's just politics. And this is the problem.

Be careful, and don't be blind! Please.
Darina · F
@SW-User Chernobyl is to Ukraine
Darina · F
@SW-User I read you and I'm scared ...
you are blind and do not see simple things ..
