Wait until late summer, say the end of August, to be sure the ice stays melted for a few weeks. 🤭

@Thinkerbell In August there are less bugs usually, but then the bears are trying to fatten up for the long Winter sleep.

@Thinkerbell It snowed on us in Yellowstone in September too, they even had a Christmas celebration that day.
Regarding destinations, have a look at Lake Athabasca in Northern Alberta/Saskatchewan. You would need to fly into Fort Chipewyan and launch from there, then you could camp on Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Park. That would be an incredible trip few have seen. Very outback. :)

@Thinkerbell we haven't had winter yet and it doesn't look like we will. no snow, no ice no freezing temps.

@Thinkerbell it only snowed once last year and once the year before...but the mountains usually always gets snow
