How should I respond when a Canadian says to me, "Happy Canada Day, eh?!"

I just spent the last 5 days in Ontario after being invited to join my friend at her rented lakefront cottage for Canada Day, which was July 1st.

Every guy we met on the beach ran over to us and said "Hey, Happy Canada Day, eh?!"

Being from Sweden and being pretty good at speaking English, I was never sure if they were asking me something ..or if they were trying to tell me something?

My first encounter occurred when a bunch of us girls were playing a game of beach volleyball when suddenly, a bunch of guys happened upon the scene and basically infused themselves into the game somehow, though none of us girls were actually complaining.

Because the guys were directing their spoken words to me, I responded "Yes, okay!", anytime one of them said "Happy Canada Day, eh?!" to me.

My girl friend then realized that I was confused by their communicative demeanor and told me that the guys were both 'asking' and 'telling' me simultaneously, which apparently is the Canadian way!

Regardless, I've never been anywhere in the world where a Nation's party went non-stop for 3 solid days! ...but I learned that when a Canadian guy says "Let's volleyball, eh?!", be sure you understand 'Canadian English' before you say "Yes, okay!".

What I learned was, the word "volley" in Canadian is plural for "..me and my friends"!

Thank you Canada!
A game of volley~ball will forever hold a special place in my memory! 🥰 🇨🇦

The Canadians really know how to celebrate. If you want to really think about it, it probably took at least three days for word of the formation of the country to reach all its citizens. In the US we had started to celebrate June 19 for a tangentially similar reason.
