Canada's Marx Carney

Dictator extraordinaire has been shown to be foolish. He signed a piece of paper in a red folder like he was Donald Trump. Sad fact Carney doesn't have that kind of power. He needs to recall parliament to pass any legislation. Trump won't talk to him so he went to Europe to show how Canada has options. Sadly he was snubbed by European leaders. He can't even get a photo op with Starmer of Britain. After two days he calls his European trip short and comes back to Canada where he is embarrassed by the paid for press who were asking about the company where he is making wads of cash. He moved the company to the US. Hmmmmm. The PM of Canada doesn't like doing business in Canada? Canada is so so so very screwed.

So Carney is less powerful than Trump because he does not try to circumvent the legislature? 🤔

Carney is fondly remembered in the UK as a very competent Governor of the Bank of England who was not afraid to speak truth unto power. And he has bags of experirnce in dealing with overmighty and deluded politicians.

@SunshineGirl Trump is acting within his authority as President of the USA. You may not like it but that is the way the US has chosen to govern itself. Not so Canada where the Prime Minister can't just sign an executive order. There is no such thing in Canada. The PM can not create a new tax nor can he eliminate a tax by simply signing a piece of paper. He has to get the approval of parliament to do that. Carney was pretending and I have seen an ad run on him signing that piece of paper like it is somehow now law in Canada. It isn't. He is not the king of Canada nor is he the President where such authority may be vested. He is just the PM and without Parliament he is just wasting paper.

@hippyjoe1955 It is the way Trump choses to govern himself. It is not democratic and it is not particularly strong. For example, the executive order to abolish the Department of Education can simply be overturned by a succeeding president. If he had confidence in defending what he is doing, he would have passed legislation through Congress and achieved a more permanent change.

@hippyjoe1955 Do you think the conservative party will lose again & the liberal party will win again
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@JohnOlinger81 I have no idea. The liberals have got a very very bad leader but the conservatives are seen, for unknown reasons, to be friends of Trump. Ontario is extremely bigoted against the US and they may have enough votes to rule the country again. I found it interesting. The liberals had to lock protesters our of the leader's rally. The conservatives held a rally in one of the safest liberal areas of the country and had 10 times the number of people at the rally than did the liberals. Then there is the matter of corruption which is the liberal way of winning elections.
When countries vote for something else the election is simply cancelled. Really. Just war. Just war
Just war!
