Deadly serious': NYT reports Trump told Canada he wants to 'revise' our border lines.

The New York Times is reporting that the Canadian government is taking President Donald Trump's threats to make it America's "51st state" incredibly seriously based on a phone call Trump had last month with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

During the call, the Times' sources say, Trump "told Mr. Trudeau that he did not believe that the treaty that demarcates the border between the two countries was valid and that he wants to revise the boundary" and he also "mentioned revisiting the sharing of lakes and rivers between the two nations, which is regulated by a number of treaties."

Trump did not offer any specifics or additional information about what "revising" the border would look like but it was apparently enough to convince Trudeau that the president really had ambitions to annex his country as an American territory.

As if that weren't enough, the Times reports that Trump Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has told Canadian officials that Trump is interested in ripping up decades-old treaties signed between the United States and Canada.

These were not one-off conversations either, as the Times reports that "in subsequent communications between senior Canadian officials and Trump advisers, this list of topics has come up again and again, making it hard for the Canadian government to dismiss them."

The Times notes that earlier reports from other outlets had suggested serious tensions between Trump and Trudeau over Canadian sovereignty.

The Star, a Canadian newspaper, has reported that Mr. Trump mentioned the 1908 border treaty in the early February call and other details from the conversation," the paper writes. "And the Financial Times has reported that there are discussions in the White House about removing Canada from a crucial intelligence alliance among five nations, attributing those to a senior Trump adviser."

The Times story is, "How Trump’s ‘51st State’ Canada Talk Came to Be Seen as Deadly Serious."

I wonder how many people might see this for what it is. Anyone thought that this could be just camouflage (again) to get everybody up in arms and get them bickering more between themselves about a different topic all the while it takes attention off of him and Elan and cohorts while they continue to go about dismantling our democracy before our eyes? Just a thought. I'm not asking for answers. I pretty much have my answer.

Trump has already started a war. A war between us, its citizens, from day one in the first term. How convenient for him while we all will have to live with the aftermath well they sit back in their luxury homes and cars and get to do whatever they want while we have very little rights left.

Let's say for a sake of argument that there was some kind of confrontation between the US and Canada about the Border. I've already decided that I'm going to Canada and help them anyway I can.

I have studied Donald J. Trump since I was a teenager in high school, which means I've read every book and biography that's been written on his behalf by professional writers. Why did I do this? Because DJ Trump in Canada has always been thought of as nothing more than a petulant buffoon who was actually a con artist and thief, but definitely not a business man, yet for some strange reason Americans were buying-into his con artistry hook line and sinker.

Who the business man was in the Trump family was Donald's father, the Late Fred Trump who co-created Trump Corp with Donald's grandmother back in 1930. Donald himself by design of Fred Trump, does not even hold an executive position with Trump Corp today nor ever has because Donald was diagnosed in his teen years with Attention Deficit Disorder.

Donald uses the power of distraction to take your eye off the ball while he steals your wallet, which is how he's always operated. All this BS with re-drawing the Canada/US border is not up to the President of the United States to decide anyway, even if it was to come to fruition.

The President of the USA has no more power than Congress will extend to him, which means he's primarily a figurehead in US government which is also why Trump has been all talk and no action ever since he took Office.

If Trump had any real Presidential powers that were on par with that of an Autocratic Dictator like Putin for example, he would have acted on everything he has spoken about, but clearly Trump has not acted on ANYTHING which means that he has no real power to act in the real world, which is that place that exists outside Trump's head!

Let's not forget that the President of the USA is the Head of State of his own country and that's where the leash around his neck draws tight every time he attempts to reach his big nose beyond his own border.

@swirlie So, you are still sending him a Christmas present !

No, Trump has been off my Christmas card list ever since he started wearing bronze makeup on his face, though he rarely goes outside to play.

Clearly you must be completely blind to what Elon Musk is doing to federal employees. Donald Trump is responsible for that since he is the president. I don't know what world you live in but it obviously isn't this one or you're just trying to bend the facts (lie) like your boy Donnie does.. 🤷.
He has removed all military aid and Military Intelligence to Ukraine leaving them vulnerable to a sadistic dictator Putin.

IMHO your statements make you not credible and unbelievable. Therefore I have no more time for you.
Many times, I can smell russian propaganda.

Here I was thinking ADD wasn't invented until the 1990's. It makes sense though because his BS rhetoric is all over the place.

Yeah, trying to redraw borders between entire nations would take a LOT more time, negotiations, and resources than what Trump realizes. I mean even two everyday citizens disputing a property line is a legal mess, let alone two nations. Trump seems to think he can just "Speak it into existence" the way God said, "Let there be light" and it was so. (I am not religious, just making a point)

Trump has not acted on ANYTHING which means that he has no real power to act in the real world, which is that place that exists outside Trump's head!

He has done a few things like releasing the insurrectionists or "keeping men out of women's sports".
He hasn't done much of anything that would actually help America on a larger scale.

I think it's a smart idea to keep men (pretend female athletes) from competing in women's sports, otherwise women's sports themselves would have to be abolished because of their sudden irrelevancy.

Back in the mid-1960's when Donald was sent off to the Military Academy by his father because Dad couldn't control him, Donald was expelled from the Academy because of his inability to interact socially with other people, where at the time they thought he was Autistic.

As time passed, Donald's official diagnosis in the mid-1980's became understood as ADD, followed by ADS (Attention Deficit Syndrome).
