Deadly serious': NYT reports Trump told Canada he wants to 'revise' our border lines.

The New York Times is reporting that the Canadian government is taking President Donald Trump's threats to make it America's "51st state" incredibly seriously based on a phone call Trump had last month with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

During the call, the Times' sources say, Trump "told Mr. Trudeau that he did not believe that the treaty that demarcates the border between the two countries was valid and that he wants to revise the boundary" and he also "mentioned revisiting the sharing of lakes and rivers between the two nations, which is regulated by a number of treaties."

Trump did not offer any specifics or additional information about what "revising" the border would look like but it was apparently enough to convince Trudeau that the president really had ambitions to annex his country as an American territory.

As if that weren't enough, the Times reports that Trump Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has told Canadian officials that Trump is interested in ripping up decades-old treaties signed between the United States and Canada.

These were not one-off conversations either, as the Times reports that "in subsequent communications between senior Canadian officials and Trump advisers, this list of topics has come up again and again, making it hard for the Canadian government to dismiss them."

The Times notes that earlier reports from other outlets had suggested serious tensions between Trump and Trudeau over Canadian sovereignty.

The Star, a Canadian newspaper, has reported that Mr. Trump mentioned the 1908 border treaty in the early February call and other details from the conversation," the paper writes. "And the Financial Times has reported that there are discussions in the White House about removing Canada from a crucial intelligence alliance among five nations, attributing those to a senior Trump adviser."

The Times story is, "How Trump’s ‘51st State’ Canada Talk Came to Be Seen as Deadly Serious."

If people haven't learned of his true agenda there is a video that pretty much explains how he's working with Putin and will be with China in some capacity and how the American people are going to get the very short end of the stick.
With politics being so volatile I don't expect anyone to be interested. But I'm of the persuasion now after hearing what I've heard from what appears a very small group of elected officials and other world leaders (France, Germany.. etc) that I don't care what political persuasion someone is anymore because this new world order that Trump's talking about and will achieve unless we all join together and quit squabbling, it's not going to matter what political end of the spectrum anyone is on because it's going to effect us all the same.
I don't say this to get into some stupid debate or sling words around. Trump has no intention of the United States to be free anymore and Europe is already planning for it.

@Elisbch I think SW is a terrible place to talk about what's happening in the world, because there's a huge majority of people who take over the comments sections to have long debates about nitpicky ever-so-slightly-related-to-American-politics topics here. You're absolutely right though. SW is just not a very nice place to be anymore, and definitely a terrible place to talk about anything related to actual reality.

@Nightwings

You're right about this place, I know that. Had to try. I see where you're from. For what it's worth, I support you and your country in my heart and mind always. ❤🇺🇦🙏🏻.
I think every country that is a free country or trying to be free should be encouraged and supported. It's horrible that there's ones among us that are the opposite thinking. Disgusting really. I will probably erase my post. Stay safe 🙏🏻

I wonder how many people might see this for what it is. Anyone thought that this could be just camouflage (again) to get everybody up in arms and get them bickering more between themselves about a different topic all the while it takes attention off of him and Elan and cohorts while they continue to go about dismantling our democracy before our eyes? Just a thought. I'm not asking for answers. I pretty much have my answer.

Trump has already started a war. A war between us, its citizens, from day one in the first term. How convenient for him while we all will have to live with the aftermath well they sit back in their luxury homes and cars and get to do whatever they want while we have very little rights left.

Let's say for a sake of argument that there was some kind of confrontation between the US and Canada about the Border. I've already decided that I'm going to Canada and help them anyway I can.

People need to relax and not play into the game! Canada and the US can continue to exist as neighbours!!
Nightwings · 31-35, F
@Quimliqer I think the US is going to continue to annoy Canada into, like with the new tariffs, but that is bad enough already. Definitely doesn't give friendly neighbor vibes, do you think?
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@Nightwings Canada is a commonwealth country, he needs King Charles signature.
Nightwings · 31-35, F
@Quimliqer Signature for annexation of Canada, or what on earth are you talking about? And how is this a laughing matter? It's super sad. You understand that the US is starting a trade war with Canada?

The thing is JSul3, the President of the USA didn't establish the Canada/US border in the first place, nor does any current POTUS get to unilaterally decide where that shared border lies. I have studied the rhetoric of DJ Trump since I was in high school and then wrote a business Thesis on Donald and Trump Corp when I attended university. The one thing that has remained consistent with Donald is his uncanny ability to 'con' people like a snake oil salesman at a Barnum & Bailey circus.

Whatever Donald says this morning, he will forget that he said it by this afternoon unless there was someone there to remind him of what he'd said this morning.
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
@swirlie But we should boost our armed forces anyways, just in case too many of his insane followers continue to remind him until he actually does it.

Maybe he was talking about having Canada extend it’s borders further south 🤔😂😂😂

@JamesBugman The US will never attack Canada with military, they have started a trade war to influence Canada over the next many years. It's super sad. Canada has always been such a lovely country – I would however like to point out that you kind of make it sound like it's fine to murder people in Ukraine but not Canada just because Canada is a commonwealth country, as if Ukrainians are not real people like Canadians and US citizens. I'm sure you didn't mean it to come across like that, just saying. I get why you made the distinction of course.
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
@Nightwings Murder is not OK anywhere. Neither is invasion in any form. I wonder if our weak Government will even try to defend the country, or will they just give it all up?
Lilymoon · F
If Canada ever became the 51st state Republicans would never get back in. Maybe he should think about that. Lol 🤦🏻‍♀
Elisbch · M
@Lilymoon

Just curious.. not wishing to argue at all.

What do you mean the Republicans would not ever get back in?

Seems the fascist-in-chief wants to start a war!

MethDozer · M
This man is likely to start ww3
Elisbch · M
@MethDozer

He doesn't have to. He has already started a war right here in the US pitting us against each other.
