Should Canada become the 51st US state ?

While left-leaning Canadians are balking at the idea of a Trump take-over, some say they'd jump at the chance to have the Donald in charge.

The US president-elect this week made his strongest bid yet to take over Canada, offering its people a 60 percent tax cut if they agree to join the US and become the 51st US state.

I find it highly unlikely that the US would add, (or even want to add,) Canada.
Seems our gov't can't handle the 50 states we have now. Why would we add more?
However, it would not surprise me if the Democrats wanted to add Mexico as our 51st state as it would solve the open border problem that they created.
@IM5688 The potential why is pretty obvious. Massive amounts of natural resources including the uranium that goes into American bombs.

The US has also had plans to annex Canada as far back as the 1930s. First it was part of a potential war with the UK if the British Empire didn't hand over control of basically the world.

During the cold war it was thought in many circles to be "necessary" to secure the northern flank because the US doesn't believe any other country can possibly defend themselves without a micro manager.

@IM5688 is the government supposed to handle the states? No it is not. The states can't handle themselves. California and New York for example
@Kenworth4954 Please. Red states are supported financially by essentially money transfers from blue states. Cry harder about a stereotype.
