A woman in Canada stopped on the highway for a deer.....

A car ran into her car, killing several people in the second car. She was given some serious jail time. Do you agree with her sentence?

If she hadn't stopped for the deer she may be dead. Crashing into a deer can do some damage. The other car had the responsibility to watch the road in front of them.

@curiosi Yes but so many factors are unknown. Did she slam on breaks at 80mph? We don't know

@REMsleep She stopped in the middle of the road. If I remember correctly, she was allowing the deer to cross the road.

@ProfessorPlum77 If it was a highway you cannot stop totally under any circumstances besides stopped vehicle in front of you. You can slow down, you can go around but totally stopping is a major hazard. I would never stop and wait for a deer. I would slow way down to lessen impact but my fear would be to cause an accident.
Unfortunately sometimes you have to keep going.
