Unfortunately some mowers just have a lifespan.

Yeah...i have a cub cadet that i bought in 2001.
It has had it's moments. I used to take it to my local small engine guy for things i couldnt/wouldn't do. He retired😦. So, i started using youtube.
Ive done all repairs for about four years.
Just recently i replaced the exhaust system, most of the electical...stator, starter, solenoid, voltage regulator, starter switch, pto switch, steering column and, the hardest, the pto clutch. Parts ran about $250. I am not a mechanic. I also don't want to pay the inflated cost of professional repairs.
She's behaving like she is new. For now.

@Carla I have a older cub too . Likes to eat the deck drive belt . Around 90. $ a hit . Now starter is bad . Have replaced many parts . My John Deere did better , but the trans axle went out . It's from the 80's

@anoderod55 last time i bought a deck belt it cost me 30 or so. I just checked, my tractor suppy is charging 45 now for my 50" belt. I keep my deck pretty clean and my pulleys greased. Not sure if that prolongs the life of the belt or just the pulleys. Not a mechanic.
I don't know about the newer models but this one is not terrible to work on.
Im trying to make this my last tractor. It has to work pretty hard though. Here's hopin'.
