Australian Census is next month (August 2026) - do not allow yourself to be pressured to answer questions in ways you don't want to

Do not be pressured into supplying information to the Census in August that doesn't reflect who and what you are, or what you believe in about you, and your place in the world. Also do not feel you are required to conform to answering any questions in any way you don't agree with because other people or organisations might tell you to respond in a particular way.

For instance, if you are not religious, do *not* feel you must indicate you are by 'default' a 'Christian' simply to support any type of pro-monoculture push by radical political factions. Pick whatever response feels right to you and you alone.

If you don't want to indicate your sexual orientation, gender, etc, then don't. It is your right to decline to provide that information if you don't wish to.

In general, if you do wish to provide true information that's entirely up to you, likewise if you do not wish to provide true information you are free to do that too. You cannot be prosecuted for providing untrue or inaccurate responses because you felt the questions were intrusive, or your safety, welfare and/or privacy are at risk.

I do not trust the ABS with my personal information, but that's just my own view since I do not trust governments in general.

If you do not want to fill out the Census online, request a paper form. I know most people will disagree with some or all of my thoughts about the Census, but I stand by my views and they have been my views almost ever since I have been an adult and been requested to submit to the Census in my own right.

You are correct. It is your right to your privacy. However, it is also your right to be counted. As a road user. And a citizen. As a resident of the area,so that hospitals and other services your demographic needs can be assessed and planned for. The choice is yours of course.😷
