Fascinating animals!
I'd not hear of them but a little research found they occur, in a good many species, world-wide.
Why so many on the shore though? Are these ones a littoral species? As they are in a band that seems to meander with the way the waves interact with the sand, I wondered if storm waves had washed them up, though the sea is calm there.
