I don't think western Canada gets up to 45C either, even on a good day! The OP is located in Australia, which is that big island that's just to the left of New Zealand.

...you're welcome for the geography lesson, but I said 45C, not 40C. We can hit 40C in Toronto in July.

The town of Litton BC burned to the ground when the temp hit the highest recorded for the BC interior which was 49C and lasted just one day.
