What happens to your assets (home/vehicles/money/investments/etc.) when you go to prison/jail?

Now that our Australian 'mushroom killer' convicted murderer Erin Patterson is going to spend a long time in prison for three murders and one attempted murder, it got me wondering about what happens to your assets (home/vehicles/money/investments,etc.)? Do you get to keep them? Do they get forcibly sold?

Obviously if you have a mortgage that can't be serviced with no income.

What happens to other legal arrangements like child parenting or child support payments, etc.?

Obviously if you had a job when arrested and later convicted that job is gone, so your income is gone. Do prisoners get paid anything when in prison/jail? Similar to a welfare payment?
