'1 in 500 year flooding' hits NSW mid north coast.

The Manning River at Taree has reached level never before recorded even over-topping the main road bridge in/out of town towards the M1 pacific motorway and flooding areas of the town never flooded in the time that non-indigenous humans have been living there.

It's been described as a '1 in 500 year' flood to distinguish it from the more 'normalised' 1 in 100 yr flood events (such as what Lismore got two of in the last 5 year).
