The end of cheque payments in Australia has now been announced

"Chalmers (the federal Treasurer) also announced that from June 30, 2028, people would no longer be able to write cheques and the once-popular payment method will no longer be accepted from September 30, 2029."

There is currently no definitive plan to get rid of cash but if a CBDC is ever announced that will involve the eradication of cash as a lawful payment system in Australia.

Most banks already stopped supporting cheques for regular retail banking users since the Covid plandemic.

For years now in the UK, I've only used contactless payment and haven't had a cheque book for years. People get used to it.

In fact the PM has announced a plan to mandate that cash must remain as accepted form of payment during times of tech failure..The idea being that it wont be legal to refuse service just because the banking system is off line..😷
