As a non-Australian and not familiar with names given in other parts of the world, I personally find Moona to be so much more exotic and mysterious.
But the name has to please you and you only. I definitely have more of a liking for Moona than Mona. Mona reminds me too much of the Mona Lisa and is a much more common name in Europe.
