Yes voting in Australia is enforced by law and they put on it a $$ penalty if you fail to vote.. But you don't have to vote.. All you need do is attend a voting location and have your name ticked off by the friendly local fascist.. Then you can just go to a booth and neatly fold your voting papers and walk over to the box and pop it in again giving another local fascist box attendant a smile.. Then you go out and go shopping.. Never having voted at all..

@Adstar must be a fascist that made the law in the first place
@Adstar Why do you call the paid attendants and volunteers "fascists"? What is fascistic about them following the bureacratic process?
In my experience, you give your name, then they find it on the list, cross your name out and give your your voting slips to fill out in a private cardboard booth. You don't even have to prove your identity! So how is that fascist?

@hartfire People who play their part in a process where people have no freedom to opt out of the process are the same as concentration camp guards... They are fascist functionaries..
@Adstar I don't accept that.

The officials and volunteers have no guns.
They don't arrest, convict or gaol people for not voting; the worst that can happen is a $100 fine, and even that is waived if it can be proven that you were, for some unforeseen reason, unable to vote.

According to the Australian Electoral Commission, the average of informal (empty or incorrectly filled) votes is about 4% across all states and territories.
This shows that the vast majority of Australians are more than happy to vote. Most of us are proud of our system. We believe it is the only way to get an honest result for who we want in government.

@hartfire If you fail to show up and vote in Australia you are sent a fine and you must pay it.. That is a dictatorial system of enforced voting.. So all involved in the voting process, be it law enforcement, or voting booth attendants ARE taking part in a fascism.. And thus are fascists..

And trusting anything published by the Australian Electoral Commission just shows extreme naivety.. The gullibility of some people astounds me. their trust in government is unbelievable..

And you supporting forced voting denying people their personal freedom to choose not to vote makes you a fascist also..
@Adstar Nope.
We the Australian people invented and voted for that form of democracy in our country.
Please try to understand that, with the exception of a few, most people who grow up in a system think it's the right one and don't like the systems of others.
We believe our system is the fairest and best currently in existence on this planet, even though it still does have a few problems that could be fixed.

Fascism is something very different. Examine the history and actions of Hitler, Mussolini, Mugabe, Pol Pot or any dictator, and you'll see how and why what we Aussies have is nothing like a dictatorship.

Nope.

Don't speak as if you are the representative of the entire Australian nation.. Because you are NOT.. I am an Australian and clearly i do not agree with a dictatorial law Forcing people to vote against their will..

True Democracy is about establishing freedom and the respect for peoples personal decisions about how they live their lives and part of that is their will in regard to voting or NOT voting.. The fact that you force people to vote disqualify you from being someone who stands for real freedom..

You are a fascist you support a system that forces people to do something against their will.. That is the very definition of a fascist, someone who supports dictatorial enforced voting.. No need to reply, nothing you say is going to change my mind because i am absolutely correct in my assessment..
