Australia is known for devastating bushfires

Well, the wet weather that has inundated a lot of the east coast is also having a huge detrimental effect.
Farms are sodden, some still under water, cattle and calves are standing in water. Which will destroy their feet and legs. Crops have been lost, unable to be harvested, machinery can not get onto paddocks to sow new crops.
So far, flood damage insurance costs are at $3.4 billion dollars with many industries still yet to work out their losses.
Total losses could be over $7 billion - and it is still raining, with a wetter than usual winter forecast.

It was a sunny day in Sydney today if my numbers are correct that's 9 days now without rain this year
Things are so wet here water comes up under the cement footpath when you walk on it

It's not all bad - the rain means grain growers are set for several more years of record harvests.

@butterflybaby75 In some areas. In many areas the ground is so sodden, farm machinery can not get onto paddocks.

@Gusman I'm in Oz - yes but this isn't the case everywhere. The rain does magic to the soil.
Why care about bad weather, you live in Australia?

@mysteryespresso The devastation caused is why I care. Farmers are losing their means of making an income and are hugely in debt with no means to clear those debts.
Thousands of animals have lost their lives.
