Is it true that snakes can be easily found inside Australian houses/apartments?

I mean I know that Australia has an abundance of snakes and insects etc but are they really common to be found inside the house? Because omg!

Usually if you live close to bushland the chance of finding a carpet python or similar in or around your house are pretty good. But they only eat the vermin like rats, mice etc
