Saudi Arabia’s population is more diverse than you think! 🇸🇦

1/ 10% of Saudi citizens are Afro-Saudi (expected to be even more) to put it into perspective, 13% of USA citizen’s population is black American . Meaning Saudi isn’t far behind the USA and is ahead of countries like France and the Uk percentage wise.

Here is a recording from the 90s of a Saudi national (abdel rabb idris ) with African ancestry singing. there is also many others in the audience with clear African ancestry:

Here is a video of Saudis in what appears to be a fun gathering and clearly of African ancestry:

2/ related to point 1 , king Abdelaziz (the founder of Saudi Arabia ) gave everyone on the land the citizenship when he United it regardless if they’re from a native Arabian peninsula tribe or not.
This is why some Saudi nationals are actually ethnic Africans, Persians, Turks, Bukharis, Uzbeks , Pakistani Indians , afghans etc
And this citizen ethnic diversity is mainly found in the coasts and particularly in Medina and Mecca.

3/ there isn’t only diversity among the citizens but also 40% of Saudi Arabia’s population is made of immigrants/expats.
This percentage is increasing.
It is impossible to walk in any ally of Saudi without coming across an immigrant.
Egyptians ,Filipinos ,Syrians ,Indians, Bangladeshi , Pakistanis ,Jordanians , Americans etc
You name it .

SubSaharan Africans, Saudis and North Africans have been blending for some time, but I am surprised that an American would choose to live there.

Different how?
All the black people I know who been here
They had a pleasant stay
(Wether tourism or work )
@Moon3624 I’m not trying to insult. Just that some things are different from home and living there permanently would be an adjustment. Like in any foreign country, really.

That is true
Living somewhere away from home is never easy and needs adjustment.
I personally would never want to live permanently in some other country but I definitely love traveling /tourism
There is a very renown historical traveler by the name of
Ibn Battuta
And one of his quotes is
“Traveling leaves you speechless then turns you into a storyteller “
One of the places I’d really want to visit is japan
