Why do so many countries have a super insignificant city as their capital?

The US has Washington instead of NY, India has Delhi instead of Mumbai, Pakistan has Islamabad instead of Lahore, Canada has Ottawa instead of Toronto, Australia has Canberra instead of Sydney… Why do you want people to remember the names of these insignificant cities?

It’s a little thing called the passage of time, where economic factors ebb and flow over time.

These countries should count themselves lucky they don’t come from a country where one city has such a stranglehold on a nation that nobody else gets a look in, like mine.

@WintaTheAngle You’re talking about London? Well, it’s the same with any major financial hub in any country, but y’all still have Manchester, Liverpool, etc and even Scotland has Edinburgh and the Republic of Ireland has Dublin
