What's really the difference between a Communist/Socialist country and an Arabic/Muslim country? Why do they have so much in common 🤔

Diktats from a figurehead

@revenant He said socialist, not authoritarian. Mussolini was the farthest thing from socialism and perfectly fitting the "diktat from a figurehead" requirement, he's actually perhaps the first guy you think of when you hear the word "authoritarian".

@Elessar And he coined the word tottalitarian to describe his regime,
Elessar · 31-35, M
@Spotpot He coined the term "fascist"; if I recall correctly "totalitarian" originally referred to the USSR.

@Elessar when you want to transform masses of people into submitting sheep you got to be totalitarian

@Elessar the word fascist comes from latin fascii, a group of branches or tree trunks and the representation of an axe above..if I am correct.
Elessar · 31-35, M
@revenant Said branches were symbology of the Roman era, which Mussolini was apt to use in manufacturing nationalist propaganda.

Totalitarianism is just the extremization of authoritarianism, to the point of eliminating any form of opposition. Mussolini, Hitler and Stalin were all three totalitarians, the first two were far-right totalitarians.

@Elessar I think the symbology might be on tarot cards...will have to check.
