Why do some men/woman go to third world countries to get girlfriends/boyfriends when there are so many single woman in North America?

I know some men here seek women who come from cultures where women are used to being told what to do. But I’ve never heard of a woman who’s used to being autonomous seeking a man from a culture where he will demand she give that up. Not saying it doesn’t happen—I’m just not familiar. But I guess if there are a lot of single women here seeking husbands, some may be that desperate.
