Republicans: don’t want to read a book? Fine. Don’t want your child to read a book? Fine.

It's another case of "every accusation is a confession." Republicans pretend that if someone is criticizing a work of media, they're actually trying to ban that media. Then the Republicans present themselves as the defenders of freedom. But the moment Republicans are in power, they try to ban media that threatens their power. That's what the whole "cancel culture" nonsense was about.

You refused to allow religious charter schools to receive government grants and you want our children to congregate with your children whom you teach filth. Freedom of association! I don't want to associate with people like you. I don't want my children associating with your children

That is precisely why Republicans have turned the USA into the most backward nation in the world. The real tragedy however, is the abject lack of pushback from Democrats on this issue.
