The Hypocrisy of Republicans

Teachers are groomer pedophiles, but also we should arm them instead of implementing common-sense gun restrictions.

Joe Biden is a bumbling fool, but also an evil mastermind.

Democrats are wildly incompetent, but also coordinated and implemented the largest crime and subsequent cover-up in human history in order to steal the election while leaving zero evidence whatsoever.

The GOP is all for small government, but also wants to control what happens in your bedroom and periodically examine your genitals.

States’ rights are paramount, but also citizens’ Constitutionally-protected freedom of movement between states must be criminally punished if they are in search of reproductive healthcare.

Babies must be protected at all costs, but also universal healthcare and childcare are socialist and there shouldn’t be any requirements to mitigate the spread of disease to them by way of vaccination requirements to attend school.

COVID is just a cold, but also an engineered bioweapon that China intentionally released.

Voter ID should be a countrywide requirement, but also we won’t be compensating people for taking off of work to obtain it, nor for the fees associated with obtaining such an ID.

We must protect the integrity of elections, but also it’s necessary that the votes of traditionally left-leaning populations are suppressed at every single turn.

The rule of law is king, except when it pertains to a Presidential candidate with dozens of criminal indictments and a lifelong history of shirking legal responsibilities.

Religion must influence policy decisions, but only one specific religion (Christianity) as all the others don’t count.

I could go on, but these idiots are fucking exhausting.

It's telling that they dumped a platform, though.

It may be a function of how you wrote it up, but aside from hypocrisy, I also noticed that there's no mention of a common good or uniting principles.

I don’t see how speaking out against gun laws that encourage criminals to violence is hypocritical. In this country, every locality with strict gun laws have elevated rates of murder. Gun laws are an invitation for criminals to commit crimes knowing that law abiding people around them are unarmed. So what do you really want? Gun laws and dead innocents or no gun laws and living innocents.
But to say that gun laws reduce crime is really an outrageous lie unsupported by evidence.

@MarthannBann888 Why is it that other countries around the world that have strict gun laws have far lower rates of murder. If mass ownership of guns isn't a cause then the only other possible explanation is that the problem lies with Americans, and they can't be trusted with guns.

I don’t know all around the world, but I know Australia is in terrible trouble because of gun violence.
The only people with guns are criminals, and they are having a field day. What countries are you talking about.
22Michelle · 70-79, T
@MarthannBann888 No first world country is having problems with guns that get anywhere near those of the USA. And some who are having problems can trace the guns back to the USA. To get the kind of murder rates that compare to the USA you need to look at third world countries.

You really need to publish the analysis where these figures came from.

@MarthannBann888 makes MORE absurd claims!!!
but I know Australia is in terrible trouble because of gun violence.
So so WRONG!!!
Martha, look at the BOTTOM of this per capita firearms homicides table. Who's there?? AUSTRALIA!!!

The trouble with our conservative friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so.

what countries are you talking about?

Well, let's take the UK. In 1996, there was a horrific incident in which a former staff member of a primary school in Dunblane, Scotland, strode into the school armed to the teeth, opened fire, and massacred 15 schoolchildren, aged 7 to 8, and one teacher, before killing himself.

After that, the government said enough was enough. Handgun ownership was banned, an amnesty was declared whereby people could hand in their weapons, no questions asked.

As a result, gun violence is near zero, and the UK has not had a mass shooting since.

And, as an aside, the UK doesn't even feature on @ElwoodBlues table. And isn't that a good thing :)

@ElwoodBlues And by the way that's in 2012. I DREAD to think what America's homicide rate is now.
