@DeWayfarer The one thing I disagree with republicans. My Dad had a union for 30 years at Cummins engine.without a high school diploma that allowed us to live a middle class life Manufacturing jobs don’t exist anymore.

Not everyone wanted to go to college some just wanted to be general laborers . It is a sad fact but everyone has to go to college today and pay high tuition and still don’t have jobs that allows them to purchase a single family home

@NativePortlander1970 with the advent of automation that is very very small sector compared to what it once was.

My father went through bakers trade school as a apprentice. And so did most of his school mates go to different trade schools in Czechoslovakia of the 1930s.

That situation would never work here however. Because the apprenticeship included room and board!

Today's corporations, much less businesses, would never stand for that!
