Has mass immigration strengthened or weakened American society?

11/22/1963 the date of inception of a principle change in America. Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President on that fateful day. The shock of that event and the institution of the commission to investigate it, was a farce, a coverup on a scale that defies description. If truth be exposed and an accurate investigation were conducted we might discover that elements of the US Government were heavily involved. Then, good old Lyndon used the camouflage of confusion of that event to institute a change in the American mindset. In 1965 the US Congress passed the Hart/Cellar act, that changed drastically who was allowed to immigrate to this nation. Prior to the passing of that act the majority of immigrants where from Northern Europe, parchment skinned from nations that produced people that came here to be Americans, yo assimilate. After Hart/Cellar, which was championed by Ted Kennedy, a radical, but slow, change began. No longer were northern Europeans favored, the majority of immigrants were from Africa or Latin America. The population of our large cities plummeted caucasians being replaced by people that came from different cultures, many that refused to assimilate, that clung to the cultures of their home country, refused to learn our language, and formed enclaves that both magnified their detachment from absorption into the American way of life. We are experiencing the results now. Our major cities that were heavily caucasian are now heavily populated by dark skinned immigrants and IF truth be shown, have crumpled in both production, adding to our GDP, and have become havens for leeches, those that live off the efforts of others. Examine the political nature of most big cities most, if not all, are mired in efforts to become, not examples of American ingenuity, but examples of 3rd world principles dedicated to, not advancement but to destruction of society, replacing effort with a pleading of sustainment.
My composures regarding my past life goals usually garner attention but my political stance gathers moss. The importance of my political thinking, I believe , far more important. We are on a precipice of subjugation. Perhaps the political climate of California OR the other Democratically controlled states are your want, But once instituted will be impossible to remedy. Beware, if that is your desire, Buy a ticket to Cuba, you’ll quickly learn that what you see as utopia isn’t, it’s squaller, A decadent way of life more akin to Somalia than the USA!

OK. While I commend your approach generally. You are missing one factor.. The reason that more immigrants started coming from South America and Africa is simply because the number of migrants wishing to come from Europe dropped as prosperity returned to Europe. The then administration realised the benefits and need for immigration levels to be kept up. So they sourced them elsewhere..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Another factor is that we, ourselves, were creating a multitude of new refugees across Asia, Africa and Latin America by supporting authoritarians dictatorships of all stripes, not to mention a few wars such as Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq as well as CIA operations in Latin American countries.

Not to mention the fact, that prior to the noted legislative change our immigration laws had been notoriously discriminatory with quotas weighted in favor of Western Europe all the way back to previous total bans on other races such as the Chinese.

@dancingtongue I accept all. of that.. Since he had military involvement in every place America has gone, we have likewise ended up with refugee populations from all of those countries. (And i have to tell you, some have added greatly to the food palate around here) As I have previously stated, my primary lens is economic. And the fact is that no matter where migration comes from, it boosts the local economy.. More so if those people move into the employment and business sector smoothly. But even if they become isolated and dependent. They still have to live eat and use the basic things society provides..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman And to that point on economics, @LesleyLee needs to take a second look at hers:
Our major cities that were heavily caucasian are now heavily populated by dark skinned immigrants and IF truth be shown, have crumpled in both production, adding to our GDP, and have become havens for leeches

Reality is that the Big, Beautiful, Blue states and cities lead the U.S. in all forms of production, GDP. California -- the most vilified by the MAGA crowd -- actually has the 4th largest GDP in the world, up from 6th only a couple of years ago, and has consistently contributed more to the Federal tax base than it has received in services, propping up red states that don't even collect enough taxes to take care of their own. Even more so after Trump's petulant targeted cutbacks on Federal funds, including disaster relief FEMA funds, to California and other Blue states.

@dancingtongue I agree with you, but being unfamiliar with LL I didnt want to go too hard in our first meeting.. In LLs experience there may have been a crumpling.. But America is in decline for a dozen other reasons and she may be correct, but not attributing the decline to the right cause..The classic "they're takin our jobs" is so much easier.. And way too many Americans have a history of taking the easy way out..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Kind of you, and I am all for civility and giving the benefit of the doubt.

But then it is my state, my region, my city that she is hurling bumper sticker bullet points at which the facts do not support, imho.
