Edmund Burke established the founding principles of conservatism, and according to his definitions, establishment Republicans are FAR closer to conservatism than Trumpists are.
So, while Burke would agree with you that the two are very different, he would also tell you that you have no clue what "conservatism" actually has meant in the world for 200+ years.

@Human1000 well you mentioned MAGA World, but with the Dems it's the same thing. Problem is that they're telling you it's not.

@dakotaviper MAGA was warm, fuzzy, feel-good--but amorphous--slogan which became short-hand for the mélange of stuff which DJT said. It involved a lot of bluster, some very oft-repeated & specific promises, etc.
It looked good on hats & stickers, but, even though DJT had the votes in the Senate to deliver on the promises, he didn't. It seems that his many lies make no a difference to the true believers.
"Build Back Better" was the name for a specific set of proposals, not a hat slogan, and not being able to deliver on it was because Biden didn't have enough votes in the Senate (unlike Trump).
And content-wise, they are vastly different.

I kept a small list of "MAGA" promises made by Trump, who
* Promised a tax cut that pays for itself;
* Promised to replace Obamacare with something better and cheaper that covers everyone;
* Promised a trillion dollars worth of infrastructure spending;
* Promised "We're going to see economic growth of 4, 5 & maybe 6%!";
* Promised to reduce deficit and eventually balance the budget;
* Promised to reduce prices of prescription drugs;
* Promised he had made the world safe from Kim Jong Un's missiles;
* Promised to LOCK HER UP!
* Promised to make Mexico pay for that wall;
* Promised to release his tax returns;
* Promised to cut the number of tax brackets, repeal the alternative minimum tax,eliminate the carried interest loophole, and allow individuals to deduct health care insurance premiums from taxes.
That's several trillion dollars worth of broken promises there, LOL!!
