I Wtk How Liberal Or Conservative Are You

Who's Smarter, Liberals or Conservatives?

For once, I'm actually going to provide sources for my information here. Even though I'm sure it will still be so pointless that I may as well not have provided them at all, this will just be for the record and I feel it's appropriate this time since this will probably be one of my most incendiary posts ever.

Comprehensive studies have shown that liberals are generally more intelligent than conservatives.

Empirical data taken from studies of those who identified as conservative have a lower IQ than those who identified as liberal:

Satoshi Kanazawa, evolutionary psychologist and researcher who conducted the aforementioned research, states:
"Humans are, in a sense, hardwired to be conservative, and it requires a unique intelligence to acquire something as evolutionarily novel as liberalism."

Does this mean that all conservatives are stupid? No, of course not. There are plenty of conservatives out there who are smart, especially if they're not socially conservative. In fact, the negative correlation between conservatism and intelligence lies primarily with social conservatism but does not include those who are only conservative in other ways (i.e. fiscal conservatism).

But I would like to stress that none of this data includes leftists so this does not mean that everyone on the left is smarter either. And yes, there is a difference between leftists and liberals. In fact, there's a tremendous difference.

So there you have it, liberals are smarter than conservatives but primarily social conservatives and the same doesn't go for leftists.

I can already see the knee-jerk reactions from conservatives calling me a "libtard" or saying all of this is just left-wing bias, lol. But if anyone wants to see a more elaborate explanation of all this information, I have provided the sources.

All the same, feel free to share your thoughts and opinions.

Well considering Red States typically de-fund education systems and don't spend a lot of money on education, I'll go with liberals.

I’m more fiscally conservative, but more socially liberal.....generally considering myself to be moderate.
I believe in civil rights and social programs, but don’t feel like we need the government to indiscriminately throw a ton of money into those programs.
I believe in the right to bear arms, but don’t think that means we shouldn't have better gun control.
My own IQ has been measured at a level that is above that chart, but I also don’t feel that IQ is necessarily a true measure of intelligence. Marilyn vos Savant has the highest recorded IQ, but is definitely not the smartest person I’ve seen.

@DragonFruit Marilyn is good at taking the IQ test. But she's done nothing with her life. It's a good thing she' pretty good looking.

@HoraceGreenley She’s obviously not stupid....but having the highest IQ does not make her (as some have called her) the smartest person in the world.

@DragonFruit The real issue is, what does the IQ test measure?

It was originally developed to identify students that were falling behind their peers in school. It is not an intrinsic measurement of "intelligence."

Unfortunately, it was interpenetrated as such because it was unfortunately names "Intelligence Quotient."

#1. Sociology is mostly Nonsense. This is true of many social sciences, but sociology is among the worst.

#2. Scientists and their studies have biases. One, or a few studies are not dispositive. I can discuss this at length, but my favorite is the now deceased Harvard professor, Stephen Jay Gould who created a course about bias in science.

#3. This study is very shoddy (the first one). I would hardly call it a study. There's no discussion of how the data was collected, other than naming the source. Secondly, the discussion does not include any methodology on the analysis. Thirdly, subjects self-identified. Forth, the subjects were adolescents.

My cursory review of the first article is that it is basically worthless.

The second reference, a video, is so absurd that I will not dignify it with a response.

The last reference is an opinion piece.

@HoraceGreenley There now, much better and more structured than spamming, no? Delete your other comments and I’ll be even happier.
Carver · 31-35, F
@Carver I didn’t mean all your other comments. :/ But thanks anyway.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Carver No problem
I'm not digging into all the articles or anything; it may have completely valid conclusions... but in general 'mean values' without any info about the standard deviation info about them is mostly meaningless.

@PervertedPrincessOfDeath You're more than welcome to read up on the information yourself. You might not like what you read but it's all pretty solid information.

@HoraceGreenley I said keep them all in one... There’s no reason why you can’t put them all in a single comment, you don’t need to spam to get your points across.
