I paid two lovely young ladies to come and help me de-clutter. They run a business just doing this. Only when they came did I realise that I have a strong streak of 'hoarder' in my personality. You do have to prioritise and when someone asks you outright, when was the last time you looked at/used this or that and is standing next to you that you have to make a decision. I am a great one for believing that 'it might come in useful one day'. Of course, if after 30+ years the 'one day' hasn't come there is a logic in sending it to the charity shop, recycling or even the tip if it's totally obsolete.
As someone else has suggested, I keep a few keepsakes from previous generations and digitise a few of the myriad photos passed down. However, it is still a stuggle to throw out things which 'might come in handy one day'. 🥴
