Returned to the book store
It’s been a while. I was amazed that series I’d enjoyed before are no longer there. Dragonlance, for instance. All those books are gone from the store in town. Maybe a smaller shop would have older titles. I used to have so many of those books. I lost them over the years and through all my moving around. When I lived in my car for a few months, I got rid of so many things, including most of my books. To be fair, my pet rabbit had also chewed up quite a few (and that’s when I learned how destructive the animal really was 🤭). I want to slowly build my collection back. (Maybe I’ll use this as an excuse to visit Powell’s out in Portland. I don’t mind traveling to a city for one single thing I enjoy)
I was there, hoping to buy a few books I’ve loved enough to have copies of. Anne Tyler’s “Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant” was at the top of my list along with C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia. But some of my favorite Anne Tyler books, including that one, were also not in stock. A shame, but I enjoy the author’s style so much that I decided to buy a different title which I haven’t read before: “The Accidental Tourist.” A travel writer rebuilds his life after tragedy. Sounds like her usual theme, but I tend to love her characters.
I really missed the feeling of being excited about new books.
