@Skylarkascending: I had a teacher who met him as a child. He said Satie was as funny (drôle) as the annotations on his music suggest.

Thank you for that. Now I know someone who knew someone who knew Erik Satie. I guess now I will have to read his annotations.

Okay, confession. My introduction to Erik Satie came from the Blood, Sweat, & Tears Album. This is a link on YouTube:

Blood, Sweat, & Tears "Variations on a Theme by Erik Satie (1st and 2nd Movements)"

"In great contrast to the mostly frenetic tone of the remainder of the album, this languid, relaxing, and lovely tune recorded on October 9, 1968, serves as both the introduction and finale to the second album of the jazz-rock group, Blood, Sweat, & Tears, released December 11, 1968 on Columbia records. Titled "Variations on a Theme by Erik Satie" (1st and 2nd Movements), it was adapted from Satie's "Trois Gymnopédies" and arranged by Dick Halligan, who played the flute. The album is available on CD. This sound recording is administered by SME. No copyright infringement is intended. This purpose of this upload is for viewer enjoyment and education not for monetary gain."
