How do you attract a younger generation to classical music recitals?

My local town has a rich culture,’with a heathy jazz scene, and classical recitals. Many talented young artists live there and bring in their friends to perform.

Yet the performances and gigs I go to a full of people over fifty. I don’t understand. It is not as though they are expensive.

The local school have a lot to answer for. They see performing arts as modern dance.

It's only the younger ones who are learning an instrument and playing classical music who are likely to be interested.

As long as there is a younger generation which is still learning and performing, it is an art form which won't die out, surely?

My girlf and I like going to classical recitals, but yes we’re always the youngest people there.
A lot of people that we went to school with think that were pretty lame and boring, or call us snobby.
I do wish more young people would get into it.

Maybe the younger generation don’t go to see live music, my son just isn’t interested in live gigs.
Yet he loves music. 😑
It really is a shame.

Try raffling off an iPhone at the concert.

Needs a modern beat to it. Like Pete tong, put his dance music with an orchestra

@NativePortlander1970 Actually this might be the way to do it 👍
Have them do a flash mob like this in a busy area of commerce.
