I've recently become a Texas oil man.
Was contacted out of the blue by a company looking to drill on some forgotten land that I inherited the mineral rights to from my Mom.
We don't own the land. Just what's underneath it. My Mom was smart to hold on to all her life and gave it to my brother and I.
It's just 36 acres. But they plan to put in 16 wells on the property and land surrounding it. A major operation.
They've paid us for leasing it already. But we get 20% royalties on anything they pump.
It's not for gasoline by the way. Some other use for oil.
