Skid Row is a neighborhood in Downtown Los Angeles. The area is officially known as Central City East. Skid Row contains one of the largest stable populations (about 9,200–15,000) of homeless people in the United States and has been known for its condensed homeless population since at least the 1930s. (All told, there's something like 60,000 homeless people in LA.)

@graphite A higher up city employee had to have his leg amputated after walking down the sidewalk to the building where he worked in downtown. There were germs there that infected him & caused flesh-eating disease.
